Steve is a Registered Psychologist with 15 years’ experience working with adults, adolescents and children. Steve has a Bachelor of Psychology (Arts), a Graduate Diploma in Psychology, and is a Board Approved Supervisor with AHPRA.
Steve has spent the last 10 years working with Juvenile Justice, and has also worked in educational, mental health and disability settings. Steve has worked in private practice in a part time capacity since early 2017.
Steve’s particular interests and skills include working with trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, emotional regulation, behaviour management, acute stress, parenting, substance abuse and divorce and child custody disputes. Whilst much of his history is working with severe and complex presentations, Steve has vast experience with all wide array of clients, presenting with all manner of concerns. Steve’s friendly and easy going nature helps clients to feel comfortable and confident in a therapeutic environment.
Steve utilises cognitive behavioural therapy in his counselling, as well as psychodynamic principles, solution focussed, dialectical behaviour and acceptance and commitment therapy. He is also trained in trauma focussed cognitive behavioural therapy, has extensive experience in group therapy and training staff and parents.
