Theona is a clinical psychologist with over 15 years of experience working in public hospitals, community health and private practice. Her approach to therapy is person-centered and she adopts a systemic lens to understand her clients. Theona has worked at Karitane, Redbank House (Adolescent Unit) and USPACE. She is an accredited therapist in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Interpersonal Psychotherapy and has formal training in CBT. Theona has experience in working with couples and uses the Gottman Method to support couples with any difficulties. She also has extensive experience with delivering family therapy interventions. She is a clinical associate of several postgraduate psychology training programs and provides clinical supervision to junior clinical psychologists.
Theona’s interests and passions lie in working with people with anxiety, depression and psychosis. She has a particular interest in adolescent health and development, having worked extensively with young people. She is also skilled in supporting people who have experienced both acute and complex trauma.
